Großwilfersdorf

The municipality of Großwilfersdorf is located at the confluence of the Ilz valley with the Feistritz valley and consists of the cadastral communities of Großwilfersdorf, Radersdorf (with Obersacherbergen and Untersacherbergen), Hainfeld, Herrnberg and Maierhofen (with Maierhofbergen and Steinbergen).

Special attention is given to the municipality annually in the context of the flower decoration competition, the Großwilfersdorfer succeeds consistently for years to stand out again and again among all municipalities. In the center of the village is the baroque parish church, which is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

The high humidity and the sunny climate allow particularly good wines to ripen around Großwilfersdorf. Typical for the volcanic region of Styria, Welschriesling, Weißburgunder and Zweigelt are cultivated. They can be tasted at the winegrowers, in the wine taverns and in the inns. A special place of enjoyment can be found in the wine castle Thaller. The castle, which was built only a few years ago, towers high above Großwilfersdorf and is known above all as a wedding location.
