This impressive hike leads from the
Tauplitzalm across the
largest lake plateau in Central Europe to the
Gnanitzalm. Breathtaking panoramic views, crystal-clear mountain lakes and idyllic alpine landscapes await along the way.
You can either start at the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm or at the mountain station of the
4-seater chairlift. The small
Tauplitzalm mountain church is located right next to the mountain station and is well worth a visit.
From here, the trail leads across gentle
alpine meadows towards Steirersee. A short detour to the
Steirersee-Bankerl is worthwhile - the view of the striking Sturzhahn and the deep blue Steirersee is spectacular.
The route then continues along the Steirersee, either via the north or south side (surefootedness required!). After the Steirersee, the next mountain lake is reached - the
Schwarzensee. This idyllic lake is nestled between gentle alpine hills and invites you to take a short break.
The hike continues towards
Leistalm and
Interhütte before descending into the Nattern Graben. Here you follow the Grimmingbach stream out of the valley, which offers a special nature experience with its clear water and tranquil atmosphere. Finally, you reach the beautiful
Gnanitzalm, a traditional alpine pasture with rustic huts.
After a well-earned break in one of the two huts at the Gnanitzalm, the return route leads along a gravel path and finally along the asphalt road to Tauplitz.
