Charming Lake Altaussee

Lake Altaussee is located at the foot of the Loser, surrounded by a dreamlike mountain landscape. With its clear water, it is one of the most scenic lakes in the Salzkammergut. The water remains cold, even in high summer.

In artist circles the great popularity of the lake justifies the comparison of the deep blue water with an inkwell into which poets dipped their pens.

If summer dreams come true: Connoisseurs start the day at Lake Altaussee with a Plätten breakfast. In the peaceful morning atmosphere, a regional selection of delicacies is served on the lake.

Overwhelming lake Grundlsee

Lake Grundlsee is located in the middle of the wonderful mountain massif of the Tote Gebirge and offers decelerating moments in intact nature. As the largest lake in Styria, it is often referred to as the "Styrian Sea".

Especially inviting: the bathing beach around the lake is accessible free of charge, except for a few private spots.

Experience summer retreats at the Lake Toplitzsee

Lake Toplitzsee is located in a deep rocky basin in the beautiful nature reserve of the "Tote Gebirge "mountains. Because of its particularly great depth, many rumors have grown up around it. Treasures such as gold reserves of the "drittes Reich" or the famous Amber Room are said to be in the depths of the lake.

Exciting discoveries: Some relics found while diving, as well as visual material from various dives, are on display in the Fischerhütte at Lake Toplitz.

Small,fine lake Ödensee

Lake Ödensee is one of the smaller lakes in the Salzkammergut. The romantic forest moor lake is the perfect destination for bike tours and hikes through the Ausseerland. A soothing refreshment is always just a short break away.

A feast for the eyes: in the "Kohlröserlhütte" with its own gourmet store you can enjoy regional delicacies directly at the lake.

Wild and romantic Salza Reservoir

Nestled between the foothills of the Grimming and Kemet mountains lies the Salza reservoir, in the nature reserve, which embeds itself in the landscape like a fjord. Already in 1974 the 120 meters high and 52 meters long dam was built and recently renovated.

Excursion tip: During a quiet round trip on a Zillen boat, participants experience the tranquil atmosphere of the lake and listen intently to the stories told by the Zillen guide.

Swimming fun in The Ausseerland

Maximum bathing fun for young and old is guaranteed by the lakes and outdoor pools in Ausseerland. Spacious sunbathing areas, volleyball courts and other attractions invite you to stay all day. In Bad Mitterndorf and Tauplitz, the pools attract visitors from May to September with pleasant water temperatures of around 25 degrees Celsius. Families feel at home in their own children's pools, on water slides, in the current channel and in large sunbathing areas.

Boat trips in The Ausseerland

Boat and ship trips are probably the most relaxing way to experience the beauty of the lakes in Ausseerland. Lake Altaussee can be explored on Austria's first solar-powered boat.

A nature experience of a special kind is the 3-lake tour. The unforgettable tour starts with a trip on the Grundlsee in the nostalgic liner. With traditional wooden boats, so-called Plätten, the Toplitzsee is explored. The tour is completed at Kammersee, the source of the Traun.
