This
themed hiking trail in Bad Mitterndorf is around eight kilometers long and is all about slowing down, health and experiencing nature. The
Tour de Kur combines historical sites, small spa parks, quiet chapels and natural recreational areas to create a varied walk through the town and its surroundings.
The starting and finishing point of the tour is the Bad Mitterndorf municipal office. Right at the beginning, the path leads to the charming Lusthaus of the Lobenstock family. This small garden house was built in 1868 for summer visitors and tells a lot about the
spa tradition in Ausseerland.
Crossing the narrow Salza bridge and past the music pavilion, the view opens up onto the small spa park. Through a narrow alley to the west of the Hotel Kogler, the path leads past the children's playground - with a view of the striking roof of the tennis hall.
At the underpass of the main road, the trail continues to the
barefoot park with its educational tree trail. It's worth taking a short break here. Barefoot walking and nature knowledge combine to create a real nature experience at this location.
Just a few minutes' walk away is the
Salza reservoir, whose water level is often significantly lower in winter. On the right is the Holy Trinity Chapel, a quiet place for a short break.
In the area of the Salza estuary, a designated nature reserve, the trail is particularly quiet and close to nature. The “Tour de Kur” signs point the way towards Hubertusalm. Optionally, the route can be extended with a culinary detour to the
Gourmet Atelier Steirerhütte - a popular refreshment stop in Bad Mitterndorf.
The trail then leads past the Bad Mitterndorf campsite back to the starting point at the municipal office.
