Hexensteig - Hexenturm

The Hexensteig is a charming alpine ascent. EXIT & SUPPORT POINT Admonterhaus

From the Admonterhaus on trail no. 634 . There, after a short descent, the "Hexensteig" begins. This partly secured trail, marked throughout, runs for the most part directly along the ridge through the Rosskarscharte to the summit of the Hexenturm/Bärenkarmauer (2172m).

Walking time Hexensteig 1 h, all difficult parts (II+) secured with steel ropes, in between easy walking terrain. Descent The descent is the same as the ascent. Total walking time Admonterhaus - Hexenturm - Admonterhaus approx. 3 hrs.

A9 Phyrnautobahn to exit Ardning/Admont and from there past Frauenberg, about 10 km to Admont. Via the B146 (Gesäuse Bundesstraße) from the west further into the Gesäuse. from Admont via the B117 to the Buchauer Sattel (parking possibility).

Or via Leoben, Vordernberg and Eisenerz to Hieflau and from there via B146 in western direction to the Gesäuse. From Admont via B117 to the Buchauer Sattel (parking possibility).

A1 Westautobahn to exit Ybbs and from there south through Scheibbs, Lunz am See, Göstling an der Ybbs and Palfau to Hieflau. From there via B146 in western direction to the Gesäuse, from Admont via B117 to the Buchauer Sattel (parking possibility).

From the entrance 50 m north along the first insurances (A) to the main ridge. Continue descending over the steep rock edge (first B, then 1-) to a grassy ridge, which you ascend slightly to the left (1-) to the foot of the large tower construction. Ascend on the south side via a ramp (A) and then climb down briefly (A/B, climbing book). Enter the striking gorge via the crux (B/C). Climb more easily (first A, then B) for about 60 m to the Turmscharte. Continue slightly to the right over the ridge and climb down over a slight rocky ridge (1-) to the Rosskarscharte. Here you exit and join the normal route.

Can be combined with an ascent of the Hexenturm (A/B; 130 hm additional), in which case follow the ridge to the summit of the Hexenturm.

Gseispur, to any destination in the Gesäuse, without any timetable or stops. Even a connection to the train stations Liezen, Selzthal and Kleinreifling is provided. Single trip per person € 9,50
