Parish church Grundlsee

The Parish Church of Grundlsee, located in the district of Bräuhof in the municipality of Grundlsee in Styria, was built between 1888 and 1890 according to the plans of the architect Robert Mikovics in the neo-Gothic style. The solemn consecration took place on June 13, 1890. Originally conceived as a filial church of the parish of Bad Aussee, it was elevated to an independent parish in 1952.

The interior of the church is characterized by largely original furnishings from the time of construction. Noteworthy are the wooden statues, including depictions of Jesus, Margareta Maria Alacoque, Notburga, and Antonius of Padua.

The 14 Stations of the Cross as well as additional artworks come from the Gröden Valley. A special highlight is the figure of the “Madonna on the Globe,” a donation by Countess Czernin von und zu Chudenitz, which likely dates from the 16th century.

The three chancel windows, made at the glass workshop in Innsbruck, depict scenes such as the Crucifixion, the Garden of Gethsemane, and a representation of Saint Barbara with miners.

Since the year 2000, the church has had an organ from the Rieger company in Schwarzach, Vorarlberg.
