A varied hike with the forestry operation Inner Salzkammergut through the European protected area Ödensee. The focus is on the Ödenseemoor as a valuable CO₂ reservoir, renaturation measures, as well as exciting insights into forest management and the challenges of climate change.

Join the Forestry Operation Inner Salzkammergut for a diverse guided hike through the European conservation area Ödensee in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut. Together, you will discover the Ödenseemoor, a valuable CO₂ reservoir and part of a LIFE+ project, and learn how targeted rewilding measures can contribute to climate protection. On the way to the lake, you will gain exciting insights into the world of reforestation forests and learn more about servitude rights, natural regeneration, and climate-resilient mixed forests.

After a strengthening snack at lake Ödensee, you will focus on the traces left by storm events and bark beetle infestations in the forests. Here, you will learn about the targeted measures being taken to address these challenges and which strategies are helping to make the forests fit for the climatic conditions of the future.

Meeting point

The meeting point is the parking lot at the Traun bridge to Ödensee, directly on the road from Kainisch towards Ödensee and right at the bridge over the Kainischtraun.

Please bring work gloves so that bark beetle bark, tools, and similar items can be touched and examined closely without any issues.

Additional information

The tour takes place with a minimum of five registrations and in generally any weather. The number of participants is limited to 20 people. In extreme weather conditions, the tour may be canceled at short notice. In this case, you will be informed by phone and email on the day before.
