The Dom im Berg was built in 1999 and 2000 according to the concept and guiding idea of the artist Richard Kriesch as a multifunctional high-tech exhibition and event centre. An underground space of 733 squaremetres and a height of eleven metres was created, which is embedded in the tunnel system of the Schlossberg. It was opened on the occasion of the Styrian State Exhibition ‘comm2000graz’, and it was one of the main venues for ‘Graz – European Capital of Culture’ in 2003. Since then, concerts, congresses, theatre, festivals and clubbing events have taken advantage of the special location in the heart of the city and deep in the rock. The Dom im Berg has made a name for itself as a unique venue for culture and events.

Der Dom im Berg wurde in den Jahren 1999 und 2000 nach dem Konzept und der Leitidee des Künstlers Richard Kriesche als multifunktionale High-Tech- Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsstätte errichtet. Es entstand ein in das Stollensystem des Schlossbergs eingebetteter, unterirdischer Raum, der 733 Quadratmeter misst und elf Meter hoch ist. Die Eröffnung erfolgte anlässlich der Landesausstellung comm2000-graz, 2003 war er einer der Hauptschauplätze im Rahmen der europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Graz. Seither nutzen Konzerte, Kongresse, Theater, Festivals und Clubbings die besondere Lage im Herzen der Stadt und tief im Felsen. Der Dom im Berg hat sich als einzigartiger Ort für Kultur und Events etabliert.
