The Bleiweißgrube (a walk-in cave) is located in the Mürzer Oberland Nature Park
This underground adventure, following in the footsteps of cave dwellers, requires endurance, courage, and a good sense of direction!
This fascinating cave is designated as a natural monument. It is 56 meters long and 7 meters high.
In 1948, the only known artifact (a man-made object) from the Upper Mürztal dating back to the Paleolithic era was discovered here. This suggests that the Bleiweißgrube served as a shelter for Paleolithic hunters. Today, the cave is a winter habitat for bats and must not be entered during winter.
The hike is family-friendly, but children under 8 years old should only enter with adult supervision. Self-guided exploration of the cave is possible but at your own risk!
