An ideal walk from the historically unique Bruck city center to the nature conservation center, which is of regional significance in Styria, featuring the publicly accessible wildlife rescue station.

We begin at the historic Kornmesserhaus, one of the most significant Gothic secular buildings in Austria. Passing by the Iron Fountain, a beautiful wrought-iron water fountain (no longer in operation), we reach the second-largest city square in Austria. Through Mittergasse (pedestrian zone), we reach the Minoritenkirche (visits outside the summer months are only possible with a guided tour).

Crossing the Europabrücke, the new landmark of the city, we come to a roundabout and look back at the Bruck Castle Hill with its distinctive clock tower.

After passing under the roundabout, we soon reach the entrance to Weitental and, in just a few minutes, walk to the Nature Conservation Center and the wildlife rescue station.

From the Greater Vienna area, take the A2/South Motorway and the S6/Semmering Expressway to Bruck an der Mur. At the new roundabout "Bruck Süd", cross the new Europabrücke over the Mur and continue via Herzog-Ernst-Gasse and Kreckerstraße to the Kirchplatz/City Parish Church.

Paid parking is available in the underground garage at the Main Square, in the City Center/Roseggerstraße, in the APCOA parking garage near the station, or in the parking areas in the city center.

From Graz and Slovenia, take the A9/Pyhrn Motorway to Bruck an der Mur. Then follow the directions above.

From the Main Square/Town Hall, we walk directly across the square to Mittergasse. We continue along this street until we reach the Minoritenkirche. Here, we turn right and cross the Grazer Bridge, which runs parallel to the new Europabrücke. The path then continues straight ahead until we reach the large roundabout, which we can pass through using an underpass.

We turn slightly right and briefly follow the main road. After a few meters, a sign for "Weitental" points us in the right direction.

We pass under the underpass and follow the road as it ascends, leading to a fork. Straight ahead, the path leads to the Lichtenstein Cemetery, but we take the left fork, soon reaching the parking lot at the entrance to Weitental (there are several information boards, and above the parking lot is the JUFA Weitental with a café and playground).

From here, we follow the forest road (no vehicles allowed, with a gate) straight ahead and, after about 10 minutes of walking, reach the Nature Conservation Center.

It is ideal to combine this with a "climb" of the Bruck Castle Hill; in this case, plan for about 30 more minutes of walking. Please note, the route is not accessible.
