Starting from the parking lot at Seeberg Pass near the Long-Distance Hiking Monument, we begin the hike towards Seeleiten. A steep, rocky path leads us up to the Staritzen. We pass east of the Staritzen East Summit and continue towards Mieserkogel to the Steinerne Hüttl (1,988 m). Almost along the ridge of the Staritzen, we hike over Rotlacken and Severinkogel (2,038 m) to Ringkarwand (2,014 m). Continuing along Hutkogel (2,035 m), we reach the Ochsenreichkar. A descent to the Voisthaler Hütte is possible here.
From Ochsenreichkar, we head over Weihbrunnkessel and Rotgangboden to the Schiestlhaus (2,153 m). From there, it’s just a short distance to the Hochschwab summit (2,277 m).
For the return, we head back towards Ochsenreichkar until the turnoff southeast to Graf Meran Steig. This rocky, steep path ends in Upper Dullwitz. We then follow a beautiful meadow path to the Voisthaler Hütte, a perfect spot for a break.
Continuing through Voisthaler Gassl, passing Franzosenkreuz, we reach the newly built Florlhütte in Untere Dullwitz, with views towards Seewiesen. The path then leads partly through forest and meadows (Böser Wald) into the Seetal and ends at the Erzherzog Johann Monument and mountain chapel.
For the return to Seebergsattel, we can either walk or, with luck, catch the bus towards Mariazell, which departs from in front of Seeberghof.
