Starting from the parking lot, a well marked circular trail leads past the idyllic "Kreuzteich" and a detour to the "Pfarrerteich" is also an option. The Kreuzteich and the Pfarrerteich, in contrast to the Grüner See, have a constant water level all year round because they are fed by springs and are a true paradise for wild ducks. You walk through untouched nature on forest paths to the Gasthof Seehof. Directly behind it is the "Grüne See", which was voted the most beautiful place in Austria in 2014. Depending on the water level, you walk directly along the shore or above on the wider path. The way back leads past the "Emma Quelle" back to the parking lot. Finally, a leisurely stop at the Hoamat-Kaffee is recommended.
From mid of May to the end of June, the "Grüner See" shows its most beautiful side. To enjoy this idyllic place in its tranquility and uniqueness and to avoid the crowds of visitors, it is recommended to visit during this period in the early morning or evening hours or during the week. During the summer and into the fall, the water level steadily decreases. In winter, it is even possible for the lake to disappear almost completely, only to return in its full glory the next year.
Directly from the train station Bruck an der Mur the bus line 175 goes to Tragöß.
1st May to 1st November (hiking season): Monday to Sunday
2nd November to 30th April: ONLY from Monday to Friday
