The Apple Takes Center Stage Here
Nestled in the hills of southeastern Styria's Thermen- and Vulkanland, in Petzelsdorf near Fehring, the family business produces the finest apple ciders, apple musts, and fruit juices. For over three generations, the Glanz-Pöltl family has been running the orchard since the 1940s, and since 2007, senior Josef has shared the management of the orchard and cider tavern with his son Michael. As a graduate of the Gleisdorf Fruit Growing School, Michael is a true expert in his field and passionate about his work.
The Glanz-Pöltl family has also proven that it’s possible to take new approaches, such as planting the Red Love apple variety—a refreshingly red apple with berry-like nuances. This red-fleshed Swiss variety is rarely found in Austria in its refined form and its heart-shaped core, revealed when cut, truly lives up to its symbolic name. And yes, this apple variety can also be used to create a wonderful cider: the fragrance of blueberries, wild strawberries, and raspberries provides a special treat for the taste buds.

What can you expect in the cider tavern? In addition to a delicious snack and homemade sweet treats, the apple in its refined form takes center stage. Everything related to the apple must be enjoyed as a fresh, fruity companion to the regional delicacies.
