Fire engine and letterbox
Bad GleichenbergGet to know the variety of Bairisch Kölldorf. Visit the "biggest fire brigade car in the world". This unique property is equipped with a 3-meter fireman who injected daily at 11.45 o'clock with the hose around the grounds.
The small town of Bairisch Kölldorf in the market town of Bad Gleichenberg has achieved a stroke of genius. Instead of building a purely functional fire station like everyone else, the people of Bairisch Kölldorf have created a landmark: the largest fire truck in the world, which is not even a fire truck! For many Florianijünger and guests from near and far, the original Rüsthaus, in whose interior three fire engines and other equipment have space, is well worth a trip.
"It's actually a normal brick-and-concrete building," explains Andreas Posch of the volunteer fire department, "only the facade has the shape of a fire truck." However, all the "gimmicks" on the building, such as turn signals, blue lights, windshield wipers and headlights, actually work. One attraction is the three-meter-tall fireman who splashes across the grounds at 11:45 a.m. every day from May to October.
