It has been 50 years since clarinetist Johannes Hödl founded the probably most original Dixieland band in Austria in Fürstenfeld on the "Stoariegl-Berg". Now he is gathering the (surviving) original and founding members together and once again filling concert and pub halls.
So they travel the country – with a remarkable 441 years of experience combined – as the “Very Old Stoariegler Dixielandband”: Sigi Flamisch, Arthur Fandl, Peter Lorenz, and Johannes Hödl have a lot of stories to tell alongside their amusing arrangements and classic Dixieland hits – such as those by Louis Armstrong. From their collaboration with Fatty George and trumpeter Oscar Klein to that day when the band almost performed as the opening act for Rod Stewart. In addition to the “founding fathers,” Mátyás Papp, Gerhard Steinrück, and Aaron Ofner also play music.
