Les:Bar trifft Klangwolke – Literatur & Musik

A summer evening full of stories, conversations, and galactic sounds awaits the audience on July 11 in Bad Schwanberg:
The Les:Bar, a mobile literature format of the Stieglerhaus Cultural Center, meets the ORF Sound Cloud 2025 – an evening that uniquely combines literature and music.

Starting at 6:00 PM the Les:Bar opens its book and beverage counter. The winery Schilcherei Jöbstl from Wernersdorf offers award-winning wines in a relaxed atmosphere. The mobile literature format presents former finalists of the Austrian Literature Prize for short stories from 2025, as well as prominent authors and their current works. Moderator Lisa Höllebauer talks with the authors about their writing, literary developments since the competition, and the difference between short stories and novels.

At 7:00 PM a special literary highlight will take place:
Marcus Fischer reads from his award-winning debut novel The Rott – a multifaceted anti-homeland novel about power relations, self-empowerment, and the harsh life in a remote settlement of the 1970s. With linguistic precision and an intense atmosphere, Fischer tells the story of young farmer Elfi Reisinger and her struggle against societal constraints and patriarchal structures.

Following this, the rose garden will transform into an open-air arena: The ORF Sound Cloud brings the concert from the Helmut List Hall in Graz directly to Bad Schwanberg – live broadcast on a large screen.

Under the motto “Endless Expanses” Styria takes off into space. The Styriarte Youth Orchestra under the direction of Mei-Ann Chen presents among others Gustav Holst's monumental cycle The Planets as well as film music from the world of Star Wars. The concert event will be accompanied by a spectacular light show from the collective OchoReSotto.

An evening for all senses – literature, music, light art, and a summery atmosphere amidst the rose garden of host Waltraud Manninger.

Entry: Euro 10.00 Free for children and teenagers up to 14 years
The event is a cooperation between the Kneipp Aktiv Club Bad Schwanberg, the Stieglerhaus Cultural Center and the Schilcherei Jöbstl winery.

Refreshments and regional wines will be provided.
