Analog photographic works
Analog photographic works "I pause when I sense elements that appeal to me; I unpack the camera when I sense a possibility to bring these elements together in a detail. If the image on the screen corresponds to these feelings and intuitions, I expose a film. Finally, in the cozy darkness of the laboratory, this almost somnambulistic process ends in images beyond our reality."
Says Klaus Mähring, who was born in Graz and studied under Friedl Kubelka, Margaretha Spiluttini and Franz West at the School for Artistic Photography in Vienna. He works mainly with old, partly expired color negative films and wants to counterbalance the prevailing flood of images by using his analog large-format cameras. He has lived in Strem near Güssing in Burgenland for several years.

Groupfotos project
On the occasion of the exhibition at Galerie Marenzi in Leibnitz, Klaus Mähring would like to continue his 'Gruppenfotos' project.
The group photos are wonderful contemporary documents of cheerful and humorous gatherings, families, friends, colleagues, clubs, interest groups...
The shoot takes about 25 minutes, working with a classic plate camera on analog color film, and the procedure is exciting and relaxed at the same time.
We are looking for groups of between 7 and 50 people to make themselves available for a recording in Marenzi Park (see below for dates).
As a thank you, everyone can pick up an original analog print (approx. 13 x 18 cm) free of charge in the Marenzi Gallery the following week.
The photographs will be used in the artist's work, in exhibitions and in print.
Dates:
Thursday 1.5., 8.5., 15.5., 22.5. at 14h
Friday 2.5., 9.5., 16.5., 23.5. at 11h
If you are interested, please send a short email (klaus.maehring@gmx.at) with your preferred date and telephone number.
