Carl Zuckmayer’s classic comedy, newly staged by Karl Posch, tells a humorous and lively engagement story that produces four couples in a single night. Contemporary and regionally adapted – a delightful evening of laughter and joy!
The comedy Der fröhliche Weinberg is one of the few German plays that has remained lively and relevant beyond its original time. It is not focused on criticism, but rather offers light-hearted, unsentimental, and objective portraits of people.
The plot – a betrothal story involving some premarital complications – is simple, but during the course of one night, it produces three "perfect" and one "imperfect" bridal couples. This play is full of arguments, reconciliations, and love.
Carl Zuckmayer: “I wrote a play to bring joy to simple, unspoiled, and open-minded people. I value an audience that feels a spark of joy for life in the piece and can laugh heartily.”
