The Special Features of Alt-Kainach

Special Exhibition on the Ground Floor

Since 1985, the ground floor of the Burgschloss hosts the special exhibition "Around the Holy Mountain – Archaeological Finds, Roman Stones, and Marble in the District of Voitsberg." This exhibition was set up by Prof. Dr. Ernst Lasnik and was expanded in 1994 in collaboration with Univ. Doz. Dr. Bernhard Hebert from the Federal Monuments Office.

Collection of Castle Models – a Small Minimundus

Especially interesting – particularly for students and young people – is the collection of various castle models. Here, the heart of the explorer beats faster as one immerses in medieval times and envisions the living conditions of that era.

Crossbow Shooting Range in the Basement

The Styrian Castle Association has set up a shooting range in the basement of Schloss Alt-Kainach, which can be rented by groups and individuals for events. Shooting is done with a crossbow at a target located 10 meters away.
Right next to the shooting range, there are seating areas for about 10 people. Here, one can comfortably gather for a drink and a rustic knight's snack.
