The Moses fountain designed by Professor Ernst Fuchs is a special work of art and alongside the Hundertwasser church is another attraction in the home of the Lipizzaner horses. The Moses fountain is also a biblical work of art to complement the Hundertwasser church.

“Since my childhood Michelangelo has had an indelible impression on my mind. Driving water from the crag is the image which we link with Moses. Therefore the fountain motive with Moses is among the oldest in European cultural history. The biggest meaning which one attributes to the fountain until today shows that it was always an object of artistic depiction. The fountain ‘came about’ as I couldn’t have imagined even in my wildest dreams. The erection of the Moses fountain fulfilled a life-time dream for me. “ Professor Ernst Fuchs celebrated his 80th birthday on 13th February 2010. Among his contemporaries there are few artists who the term ‘Ruler of artists’ would better fit. His trade-mark cap, tailored from material which he also designed himself, is as much a trade-mark of Ernst Fuchs as his beard. The life-long artist himself embodies the complete artwork, which he joined so passionately. In March the official celebrations were on the calendar. This included a big exhibition in ‘Palais Palffy’ as well as hiring of the golden medal of the city of Vienna.
