Musically accompanied hike to the birthplace of Fux with culinary treats and a festive event in Nestelbach near Graz.
In Nestelbach near Graz, Johann Joseph Fux, the famous baroque composer from Styria, is honoured with a festive hike. On 20 September, the Johann Josef Fux hike starts at 15:00 at the commuter car park at the junction of Mareinerstraße and Hirtenfeld. After welcoming the guests, the joint departure begins at 3.30 pm, accompanied by the Nestelbach band. The destination: the Pollhammerhof, birthplace of Johann Joseph Fux.
An atmospheric programme awaits there from 16:00 at the Fux wayside shrine. In addition to speeches and the blessing of the wayside shrine, a commemorative plaque will be unveiled and a Styrian heart bench presented, a symbolic sign of regional solidarity. The Nestelbach band will once again provide the musical backdrop.
Afterwards, the Pollhammerhof offers an insight into traditional craftsmanship. The historic oil press can be visited. Freshly pressed pumpkin seed oil is not only available for sale, but also for tasting - together with farmhouse bread, egg dishes with pumpkin seed oil and regional drinks.
This event in the Graz Region combines cultural history, musical tradition and regional cuisine.
