Windpark Steinriegel - Pretul
RattenWith 35 turbines, the Pretul is the largest high-alpine wind farm in Central Europe.
From the municipality of Rettenegg, hike up the Alpannonia feeder path to the 1,656 meter high Pretul. From there you can marvel at the wonderful mountain panorama and the Ratten wind farm. For those who want to go a little higher on the Pretul, there is the Peter Berger lookout point. According to legend, this small viewing platform was built for the murdered hut keeper Peter Bergner.
On the Pretul you also have the option of staying the night in the Roseggerhaus refuge or having a meal. The hut is an ideal place to stay overnight for everyone who continues to hike from here on the Alpannonia long-distance hiking trail, which leads to Köszeg in the Hungarian lowlands. But shorter tours are also possible from the Pretul, such as a walk to the Ratten wind farm or a hiking tour to the next summit, the Stuhleck.
