When you listen to the music of Seitinger & Maierhofer, a picture comes to mind: Ludwig Hirsch sitting relaxed with Édith Piaf and Django Reinhardt, enjoying a beer, guitar at the ready. Together they make music and, in their songs, tell of the raw beauty of everyday life.
Johanna Seitinger and Lukas Maierhofer give voice to those topics that are otherwise swept under the rug of silence: secret loves, quiet accusations behind one's back, or the slow drifting apart of two people. What many only talk about behind closed doors finds its way onto the stage with their ruthless and keen sensitivity.
Their songs are inspired by personal experiences and overheard life stories. The bizarre, the offensive, and the serious exist side by side – sometimes tongue-in-cheek, sometimes deeply touching. The music touches the heart and awakens memories of people and moments that live on beneath the surface.
In addition to their own compositions and newly interpreted jazz and pop songs, Seitinger & Maierhofer also revive almost forgotten folk songs. In their fresh musical guise, even Alpine traditions appear contemporary – and surprisingly vibrant.
