THEATER "Carmen Must Not Burst" – Comedy by Ken Ludwig, Austrian premiere
Cleveland Opera, 1934. The world-class soprano Elena Firenzi is guest-starring with "Carmen." But Elena arrives far too late, feels unwell, and then her husband Pasquale disappears after a passionate scene of jealousy. When Elena seemingly dies from an overdose of sleeping pills, the opera director is outraged. What a scandal! So it's up to her unassuming but vocally talented assistant to save the evening and step into the costume and makeup of the superstar, because one thing is certain: Carmen must not fall through!
