The gentle alpine landscape and the flowery limestone of the Hohen Veitsch characterize the surroundings. The refuge is located on long-distance hiking trails such as the Northern Alpine Trail and is an important base for pilgrims on the way to Mariazell. The scenic crossing from the Graf-Meran-Haus plateau over the summit of the Hohen Veitsch, the Seeboden and the Seebodenhütte to the Grundbauernhütte is a very popular hike and takes about 2:30 hours. Magnificent views are guaranteed. Life in the hut It's quiet at the refuge.
