Marktgarten Villmannsdorf
RottenmannBack to the roots. Forward with a good feeling.
Some ideas have deep roots – so deep that they eventually just have to grow. Just like the Villmannsdorf garden in Rottenmann. What began as a quiet longing is now a heartfelt project with flavor, meaning, and a future.
The love for gardening caught us many years ago – not just anywhere, but on Vancouver Island in Canada. For a summer, we worked as WWOOFers on Code’s Corner Farm, growing organic vegetables, digging in the soil, harvesting, eating. And in the process, we found something that has stayed with us: the conviction that real food grows where people work joyfully and with respect for nature. This experience has shaped us – and has never let go.
We have traveled a lot. Worked in the kitchens and homes of this world – from South Africa to the Caribbean, from New Zealand to Lech am Arlberg. We have learned, tasted, observed, compared. And along the way, we saw how absurd the system has often become: perfect vegetables flying halfway around the world. Chemicals instead of character. Everything, always, immediately – no matter the cost.
Now we are back home. Because it feels right. And because we are convinced: It takes more small, honest projects. More gardens with soul. More people who want to know where their food comes from – and why that is important.
The Villmannsdorf garden is our answer to these questions. Here, healthy, regional vegetables grow. Seasonal, organic, and lovingly cared for by hand. No frills. But grounded.
From the farm in Rottenmann. Fresh. Honest. And full of flavor.
