Whether skiing, cross-country skiing or walking around - the high plateau is perfect for sticking your cold nose into the fresh winter air.
The beautifully situated high plateau in winter: There you can go classic cross-country skiing and skating on the approximately 6 km long high-altitude trail, or get off at the car park and slip into your ski boots. There are two ski lifts, a platter lift and a magic carpet for the little ones. If you are still shaky on the boards that mean the world of skiing or snowboarding, the best thing to do is knock on the door of the Gesäuse Ski School, the only ski school in the Gesäuse. By the way, there is also equipment to borrow.
Let your soul dangle
Alternatively, you can simply go for a walk on the Kaiserau to look around for all kinds of winter wonders. Or simply to let your mind wander. A ski tour is of course always an option, as the Kaiserau car park in particular is a popular starting point.
Quite ideal
After all the exercise and all the downhill wobbling, it's time to sample regional cuisine at the "Sportalm", because the mountain inn is of course also open in winter. The Kaiserau should therefore not be ignored in summer or winter, as it is an ideal destination to relax and recharge your batteries.
