Grundlsee

The village church Gößl is a chapel built in the 19th century in the district of Gößl in the municipality of Grundlsee in the Ausseerland.
It is notable for its historical significance and its special furnishings.

The Village Church Gößl, also known as the Chapel of St. Raphael, is located in the district of Gößl in the municipality of Grundlsee in Ausseerland, Styria.

Built between 1819 and 1820 at the initiative of 14 farming families from Gößl, it served as a response to the arduous journey to attend Mass in Bad Aussee. The chapel was constructed on private land and at their own expense, highlighting its unique status among the region's churches.

The chapel houses a Renaissance altar from 1663, originally from the parish church of Bad Aussee. The altarpiece depicts the Archangel Raphael with the young Tobias.

Additionally, baroque and gothic figures of saints are part of the furnishings. A ceiling fresco from 1950, painted by academic artists, represents the Holy Trinity. On the exterior facade, there is a fresco of St. Christopher.

The Village Church Gößl is only open on certain occasions, including worship services and special events.

It is located in close proximity to Grundlsee and offers a picturesque view of the surrounding landscape. A bus stop with connections to public transport is located nearby.
