Alois Hergouth was born in Graz on May 31, 1925, the last of eleven children. He graduated from high school in 1943, was drafted into military service and returned to Graz from captivity in the fall of 1945. He began to write poetry, his first volume of poetry “Neon and Psyche” was published in 1953. During this time, he was particularly involved in the founding of the Graz Forum Stadtpark and the publication of the literary magazine manuskripte.
A small clay hut in the Slovenian vineyards of Sladka Gora became his second home in 1959. After completing his doctorate in 1960, he worked as an assistant to Hanns Koren at the Institute of Folklore. He was a member of the PEN Club, IG Autoren and the Austrian Writers' Association.
Alois Hergouth retired in 1978 for health reasons and devoted the following years to his writing, publishing numerous volumes of poetry as well as the autobiographical prose volume “Der Mond im Apfelgarten”.
Alois Hergouth died in Graz on January 17, 2002 after a long illness at the age of 77.
Florentin Groll was born in Vöcklabruck in 1945 and grew up in St. Gilgen. He studied theater studies and sociology in Vienna and Frankfurt. From 1979 to 2010, he was a permanent member of the Vienna Burgtheater ensemble and has appeared in many television, cinema and theater productions, including the series “Ringstraßenpalais”, “Schlosshotel Orth”, “Julia - eine ungewöhnliche Frau” and the film “Spiel im Morgengrauen”.
Adelheid Picha, born in Vienna, artist, founder, friend. Stations: Music Academy, Max Reinhardt Seminar, Volkstheater Vienna, Theater in der Josefstadt. Co-founder and co-organizer of the AKU (Ausseer Kultursommer) and the Arche am Grundlsee.
