- Coming from Liezen: Turn right before the bridge overpass at Trautenfels Castle and take the 3rd exit at the traffic circle towards Irdning. Follow this road, which leads over a railroad crossing and over the Enns bridge. Turn left at the village sign and park at the large parking lot of the Irdning recreational facility/sports field.
From the starting point at the Irdning leisure center, walk along the road towards Trautenfels. Before the crossroads at the fish ponds, turn left and follow the path past the Schloßteichstüberl fish restaurant. Cross the Grimmingbach stream and join the old main road towards Untergrimming.
Through the village, you have a view of the striking rock formation of the Trautenfels climbing wall. After crossing the main road, the Waldesruhweg trail leads through forests and meadows. After crossing the railroad line, you walk a short distance on the road towards Pürgg, but soon turn left and follow the Marterlweg uphill in serpentines.
Once you arrive in Pürgg, it is worth making a short stop at St. John's Chapel after crossing the village. The descent is via the Pürggerweg trail through the forest until you reach the valley again at Ennshof near Stainach. After crossing the road and the tracks, follow the path along the Enns to the Enns bridge at Sallaberg. Turn right there and return to the starting point via the gravel path.
Be sure to take a few minutes in Pürgg to enjoy the impressive view of the Grimming from the Johanneskapelle chapel - a moment of peace and a perfect place for a short breather before heading back downhill.
