From the car park at Buchauer Sattel, follow trail no. 636 across a meadow to a forest. Now, partly on a good forest trail and partly on a forest road – always following the 636 markings – first in the forest, then on the treeless, panoramic alpine pasture and later over a steeper ridge to the beautifully situated Grabneralmhaus (1,395 m) . If you need some refreshment before the final ascent to the Admonter Haus, the innkeepers here are just the right people to help you! West of the Grabneralm, the trail now climbs up a ridge (with views of the Gesäuse, Dachstein and Glockner mountains) and then veers left to join the ascent from Mühlau (trail no. 633). Now the trail becomes steeper under the rocks of the Admonter Warte to the Admonter Haus, which is soon visible, located at 1,723 m above sea level and thus the highest refuge hut in the Gesäuse. And – nomen est omen – you have the best view of Admont: enjoy it!
