Almidylle and Steep Cliffs
Nowhere else in the Gesäuse Mountains are 2000-meter peaks more easily accessible than those proud summits that line up around the Klinkehütte. And for those who do not want to go that high, relaxation can be found on romantic alpine meadows or during a stroll in a deeply snow-covered magical landscape.
From Easy to Difficult
From the parking area at the house, visitors are separated by just under 700 vertical meters from the highest peaks of the Reichenstein Group – hiking pleasure and extreme alpine climbing are literally close together here: the quickly reached steep walls of Kalbling and Sparafeld offer a variety of climbing routes in all difficulty levels. A gentler picture is painted by the round trip over the Wagenbänkalm or the crossing of the scenic Lahnganggipfel.
Alpine Educational Competence
The ideal location and facilities have made the ÖAV mountain hut into the "Alpine Education Center of the Eastern Alps." Not only do various rescue organizations utilize the house and its surroundings for training purposes, but the local mountain guides and hiking guides also consider the Klinkehütte an optimal base. The offerings range from introductory courses in rock climbing to yoga in the mountains.
