About the offer

For the first time, there is the opportunity to take a tour of special archaeological sites in the area.
This includes, for example, the Roman mining settlement of Michlhallberg with the nonsensical Kira and the gaming stone, or the settlement in the area of the train station in Kainisch, which is evidenced as far back as the Urnfield period.

Guided tours can be booked from Monday to Saturday between 09:00 and 15:00. A liability statement, which will be distributed on-site, must be completed before the start of the tour.

Depending on the location, accessibility, inquiries, and weather forecast, the meeting point and timing of the tour will be arranged by phone.

About the serviceprovider

In 2025, Ing. Matthias Pointinger expands his role as a NATUR mentor in the Ausseerland to include archaeology. As the curator of the archaeological department at the Kammerhofmuseum Bad Aussee and chairman of the local research association Salzkammergut (HEFOSA), he brings extensive professional experience to this role. His passion for archaeology began in 2001 as a member of the then working group AAS, which developed into the active association HEFOSA in 2018. HEFOSA is dedicated to researching the inner Salzkammergut, focusing on archaeology as well as areas such as history, geology, water, and environment.
