About the offer
A visit to the mining museum offers fascinating insights into the history of mining – whether you explore the museum on your own or participate in a guided tour. Guided tours are available upon request at any time.
The museum takes you on an exciting journey through time – from the first stone axes of the Stone Age to medieval mining. A highlight of the exhibition is a stone axe over 7,000 years old, which evidences early wood-working techniques. Later came copper axes around 2000 BC, marking the transition to metalworking. A cremation urn from the late Bronze Age and early Iron Age.
One special detail is the mining dog – a historic mining cart that showcases the technological innovations of medieval miners. Minerals and coins complement the prehistoric findings, painting a vivid picture of the cultural history of Oberzeiring.
Each exhibit brings the past to life and provides a captivating impression of the challenging life and work underground. An experience that makes history tangible in every sense!
