Strechau Castle

Strechau Castle is the second largest fortification in Styria. It was  remodeled into a Renaissance castle in the middle of the 16th century. Strechau Castle houses an impressive collection of historical automobiles in its baroque granary.

The special exhibition “NEW SPIRIT AND ABERRATION – Burg Strechau as a crucible of the confessional struggle” shows the rise and fall off Protestantism, which was closely tied to Burg Strechau. The highlight of the exhibition is undoubtedly the so-called “gmalln Gewelb”, a room whose painted ceiling from 1579 has been preserved.
A children’s quiz turns any visit to the castle into an exciting experience for the youngsters as well.
