Luegtratte-round tour (path 6)

After the steep climb over the "Gastrumerofen", a pleasant, shady high trail to the "Luegtratte" awaits you. The way back leads mostly on an unavoidable asphalt road.
The high-altitude trail repeatedly offers beautiful views of the peaks of the Wölzer Tauern, which here also form the weather divide between the Enns Valley in the north and the Mur Valley in the south. Uphill, the entire trail runs in the shady forest, while the way back is in the sun throughout.

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Here turn right in the direction of Niederwölz. In Niederwölz turn right again in the direction of Oberwölz.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur), drive via Murau to Niederwölz. Here turn left in the direction of Oberwölz.

From the information center (opposite the town parish church), leave the town through the Hinteregger gate to the west. At the cemetery turn right, at the first fork follow the road uphill. As you gain altitude up to the "Strahbauer" farmstead, the view of Oberwölz and the Wölzer valley becomes more and more magnificent. Following the markings, you come across a field and meadow path to a transmission mast. After this, you cross a meadow, reach a sparse forest and subsequently the "Felsensteig". This becomes a forest path, which you leave at a crossroads.

From here you have the opportunity to visit the "lookout point", from where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Wölz valley and to the SE up to the Seetaler Alps (Zirbitzkogel).

After the crossroads the path leads to the access road to the farm vlg. "Wiesner", which you follow to the first fork to the right. Following the signs, you first reach the farmstead "priegl" via a forest road and later via an asphalt road.

After the farmstead, follow the forest road straight ahead and after abour an hour you will reach the Luegtratte.

For the way back keep to the right and follow the signposted forest road downhill. After 20 to 30 minutes you will pass the farmstead "Hochreiter". From here you reach Mainhardsdorf on the asphalt road in a good hour´s walk. There you cross the main raod, turn right and at the village sign turn left again to the farmstead "Rottenhofer". From here you can already see Oberwölz, which you reach first on a dirt road, later on an asphalt road.
