Tannengraß & Lebzeltstern
Advent in the Museum Valley with crafts, music, and traditions for families in Stübing, with campfires, regional delicacies, and lovingly designed stations.
Fir Grass & Gingerbread Star at the Open Air Museum Stübing brings a special atmosphere to the museum valley on selected days in Advent. Historical house landscapes from all over Austria and South Tyrol open their doors and show how the rural Christmas season was once celebrated. In heated smoke rooms, old Christmas carols can be heard, while reflective readings provide moments of calm.
The soft light from the rooms blankets paths and courtyards, bringing stories of bygone times to life. Children create straw stars together with their parents, craft Christmas ornaments, or decorate gingerbread stars. In the old school, a special ritual takes place: with a goose feather and ink pot, the wish list to the Christkind is written.

Throughout the premises, craftsmen showcase their skills in candle making, spinning, pottery, knitting, and lace making. Around fire pits near the inn, brass pieces resonate, accompanied by regional dishes from the past. Chalkboards guide visitors through the offerings and help ensure that no station is missed.
The Open Air Museum Stübing is part of the Graz Region and combines lived tradition with a genuine atmosphere. A visit shows how calm and communal the Advent season used to be – far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
