Chamber Music Festival: A Series
Chamber music with Bach in Maria Straßengel: fine lines, quiet strength, and bright sound in a special atmosphere with proximity to Graz in Styria a pleasure to listen to!
A line runs through this evening like a silent thread: widely curved, adorned, branched, lost and found again. At the Chamber Music Festival, a program completely devoted to Johann Sebastian Bach resounds in the pilgrimage church of Maria Straßengel in Styria.
On August 29, two musicians meet - Albena Danailova, concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic, and Reinhard Latzko - who present Bach's solo works with clarity, calm, and inner tension. The program introduction by Harald Haslmayr opens the view to forms, lines, and subtle references in the works. The program includes the Suite for Solo Cello No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1008; the Sonata for Solo Violin No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001; the Partita for Solo Violin No. 1 in B minor, BWV 1002; and the Suite for Solo Cello No. 4 in E-flat major, BWV 1010.
In the gothic church near Graz, these pieces find space to breathe. Every bow stroke, every turn, and every pause becomes audible. This results in a concert that does not rely on external effects but instead on intimacy, form, and timbre. This quiet concentration fits perfectly with the special atmosphere of Maria Straßengel. Among ancient walls, light, and resonance, Bach becomes clear, warm, and present. From the dark cello suite to the partita, a bow is drawn that makes Bach serious, lively, and beautifully tranquil. Tickets are available online. An evening for all who appreciate fine chamber music, sacred spaces, and the special tranquility of the Graz Region.
