CITY IN THE BLAZE OF LIGHT
ADVENT IN GRAZ
During Christmas, the Styrian capital is festively decorated and transforms into a unique paradise of lights. Accompanied by the familiar sounds and smells of the pre-Christmas period, walking and shopping in the UNESCO World Heritage Site takes on a very special flair. And so you can also be enchanted as you stroll through the 16 Christmas markets in Graz. Another highlight that can be seen here is the façade of Graz City Hall, which shines like a giant Advent calendar.
Not far away, the ice cot in the Landhaus courtyard is THE centre of attraction during Christmas. It is the world's first and still the only ice nativity scene of this impressive size. Every year, ice artist Kimmo Frosti creates a unique work of art from 35 tonnes of ice. If that's not enough ice for you, don't miss the Graz Winter World. On an ice surface of 3,000 m², the ice skating dream comes to life right at the foot of the Schlossberg. This makes Christmas in Graz an unforgettable time full of joy and contemplation.
Tip: In the run-up to Christmas, public transport in Graz takes you comfortably and atmospherically through Christmas in Graz. On the Christmas weekends, from Friday to Sunday, the festively decorated Advent Bim offers free city tours. In addition to the Altstadt Bim, all trams and buses in Graz city centre can be used free of charge on Advent Saturdays. This makes strolling through the countless Christmas markets even more relaxing.
