Experience a challenging hike to the Kreuzbergwarte, enjoy the fantastic view and the beautiful landscape on the circular hiking trail.

The tour starts at the Hallstatt Time Museum in Großklein. Heading towards Heimschuh, the trail leads through the village along municipal paths over the Hammerkogel and through the picturesque Fahrenbach Valley. Numerous places to stop for refreshments along this tour offer ideal rest stops to recharge your batteries. Forest and municipal paths lead to the highest point of the tour – the Kreuzbergwarte. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. Take a moment to admire the beauty of nature and take some souvenir photos. Follow the signs to the north. Finally, you will reach Kleingraben via forest and municipal paths and hike back to the starting point via Kohlberg, Lassenberg and Karberg.

The route can also be shortened via variants 14a or 14b.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the Leibnitz exit. Follow the B74 to Heimschuh-Großklein.

The challenging hike begins at the Hallstatt Museum in Großklein - past the Großklein inns Steirerkeller, Wrolli-Edler and Wagner - in the direction of Heimschuh and finally leads along municipal paths via Hammerkogel and the Fahrenbachtal to the Schatz and Rack wine taverns. From there, the trail leads along forest paths towards Kranachberg and finally along community paths to the Kreuzbergwarte. The route continues on the municipal path in a northerly direction. Leave this path to the west, then, after crossing the Kleingraben, you will reach the Kohlberg - Lassenberg - Karberg area on forest paths back to the starting point.

Alternative 14a :The hike starts at the Hallstatt Museum in Großklein - takes us past the Großklein inns Steirerkeller, Wrolli-Edler and Wagner - up the Nestelberg to the Buschenschank Pugl winery and on to the Buschenschank Maier winery. We walk over the Karsabathe to the Buschenschank Klopfer vulgo Glaserkeller winery and finally over the Kohlberg - Lassenberg - Karberg area on municipal paths back to the starting point.

Alternative 14b: The hike begins at the Hallstatt Museum in Großklein - leads us past the Großklein inns Steirerkeller, Wrolli-Edler and Wagner - in the direction of Heimschuh we continue to the Bierfranzlkappelle chapel and to the Buschenschank Wölfl winery. Continue to the Kreuzbergwarte via the Karsabathe past the Buschenschank Klopfer vulgo Glaserkeller winery and via the Kohlberg - Lassenberg - Karberg area back to the starting point.

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible.
