The cultural landscape of the alpine pastures on the doorstep of the Obsteirian cities
What do Bruck an der Mur, Kapfenberg, Kindberg or even Mürzzuschlag, the urban centers of Upper Styria, have to do with the alpine pastures of the region? Well, these unique cultural landscapes with their diversity of flora and fauna have always been recreation areas and places of longing for nature-loving people in the cities. And it is to such a place of longing that this hike takes us to the Falkenstein and Lachalm.
Monday to Friday hard work, the weekend on the Alm
Some time ago there was a documentary on the culture channel of the ORF, in which an already somewhat older gentleman remembered his childhood and youth in Kapfenberg. According to him, they were very nice memories, memories of hard working days, but also of unforgettable mountain tours and hikes over our high Styrian alpine pastures.

More information
We hike over this, at first quite steeply and then increasingly flatter to the Falkensteinalm, which is soon visible. By the way, this is also easily accessible by mountain bike from Lanau / Mürzsteg.
After a short break, continue on a forest path until you see a stable building on the right below the path - now left uphill and in a northerly direction and always following the path (path, forest path) until you reach the prominent cross above the Lachalm (wonderful vantage point). From here in a few minutes to the alpine huts.
Return either on the ascent path or via the marked hiking trail leading east to the "Eisernen Törl". By the way, this variant must also be chosen if you want to hike on to the Hinteralm. From the "Eisernen Törl" you follow the wide forest path downhill back to the "Tirol" and from there to the starting point.
