The market town of Obdach is located at the foot of the Zirbitzkogel in the Styrian Zirbenland.

Obdach is a market town with about 3750 inhabitants in the district of Murtal in Styria. The municipal area covers an area of 159.24 and includes 18 localities: Amering, Bärnthal, Granitzen, Großprethal, Kathal in Obdachegg, Katschwald, Kienberg, Kleinprethal, Lavantegg, Mönchegg, Obdach, Obdachegg, Rötsch, Sankt Anna-Feriensiedlung, Sankt Georgen in Obdachegg, Warbach, Winterleiten, Zanitzen.

Since 2015 Mr. Peter Bacher is the mayor of the market town Obdach.
