The market town of Kobenz is located in the Mur valley at the foothills of the Niedere Tauern (Seckauer Tauern) in the Seckau basin.
The market town of Kobenz lies at an altitude of 621 m above sea level and has 1,912 inhabitants. The area of the municipality is 1,762 ha. On 8 July 2007, the municipality was elevated to the status of a market town. 2010 was a special year, the market town of Kobenz had its cultural year with the big 1150-year celebration.
