The municipal town of Knittelfeld is located in the heart of the Styrian Mur Valley and, with around 12,870 inhabitants, is the largest regional center of the area.

Knittelfeld is located in the heart of the Aichfeld, nestled in a picturesque natural landscape and just a few kilometers from the Red Bull Ring. As the largest town in the Murtal district, it offers a well-kept city center ambiance, numerous shopping opportunities, and a diverse cultural and leisure program. The town has been awarded the title of "Flower Town" multiple times and boasts green recreational areas, park facilities, and the city park with a unique mini-golf tournament facility. Historical connections to the railway shape the town's image and are reflected in the railway museum and the impressive model railway facility.
