Knittelfeld-Gaal zu den Almhütten Almstüberl und Steinwenderhütte

From Knittelfeld via Sachendorfer Gasse to Gaaler Strasse and out of town on the main road to Sachendorf. Continue on the Sachendorfer Landesstraße. (signposted cycle path 4 named after one of Austria's best cyclists Rudi Mitteregger. Along the Ingering stream, a narrow asphalt road with little traffic leads off to the left at the Braunwirt estate to Schattenberg and into the district of Ingering II (beautiful view of the Gaal mountains Ringkogel and Hochreichart). We reach the imposing Wasserberg Castle and cycle via the village of Gaal into the Gaalgraben. Continue up the valley on a wide asphalt road with little traffic and after the Wallnerweg junction you come to a signpost, from there continue uphill on a gravel road to the Almstüberl. Continue into the valley to the Steinwenderhütte until you reach the GH Wachter, turn right after approx. 1 km and continue uphill towards the Steinwenderhütte.
