City Museum Trofaiach

Folk Medicine: a special feature is the original pharmacy interior from Trofaiach dating back to 1904, other treasures include medical devices and utensils from the possession of the famous plague doctor Adam von Lebenwald (17th century) and the doctor Dr. Schlömmer (19th century). The archaeology department houses remarkable artifacts from prehistory and early history, including findings from the hill settlement on the Kulm near Trofaiach from around 800 B.C. and from the local area of Trofaiach.

Museum Depot The museum includes the museum depot (formerly the East Substation). The focus here is on the display depot and an extensive library with thematic focuses on Trofaiach and the Iron Road, costume studies, customs, and literature from Styria, the costume archive, and the mineral collection of Marichhofer. Under the title “Art & Culture in the Depot,” cultural events in all areas of contemporary culture are regularly offered.

Troadkost´n in the Laintal Another branch of the Trofaiach City Museum is the Troadkost´n in the Laintal. The former grain storage now serves as an exhibition space. In the upper part of the “Kost´n,” visitors can experience a school day from the early 20th century in the school benches and the teacher’s desk, complemented by numerous interesting teaching tools and various teaching aids. The lower part, which is modeled after a simple peasant living room from the 19th century, can be used for events (max. 15 people).
