Tower in the mountains - Tremmelberg
SeckauIf you are travelling in the region in the valley, you can see the "Tower in the mountains" (or "Tower Power"), the two twin towers on the Tremmelberg, from afar. This viewpoint is 41 metres high and offers a magnificent view over the Mur valley, parts of the Red Bull Ring and the Mur valley mountains.
202 steps lead up to the viewing platform. Numerous hiking trails lead up from the most diverse directions - according to the motto "all roads lead to the Tremmelberg". A snack station with Styrian delicacies from regional farmers is located directly by the tower in the mountains.
The much admired wooden construction was opened at Whitsun 1999 and is a popular destination for everyone. On the way there is also the forest school and its own forest nature trail, which tells about the game and hunting.
- The Alpensteig has a more sporty touch; it is identical to the Weitwanderweg 02 and runs directly uphill from Kokalj-Heuschupfen.
- The Heilsweg is a themed trail that leads to the Calvary Church on Tremmelberg. For the most part, the trail runs parallel to the general hiking trail or Alpensteig. Only from Kokalj-Heuschupfen does the Heilsweg loop eastward and join the Alpensteig at about 1000 meters above sea level.
- The information boards along the Heilsweg or Alpensteig reflect epochal events and historically significant changes that affect the monastery, but also its surroundings.
- The wayside shrines (baroque style) were originally erected as stations of the cross. They are decorated with frescoes or reverse paintings on glass and show scenes from the history of salvation: from paradise to the incarnation and passion of Jesus to his resurrection.
- Viewing platform: At the turnstile for the ascent to the tower a fee of € 2,- has to be paid. From there there is an impressive view into the "Murtal". Each of the two observation towers is 41 meters high and each step bears the name of a patron. In winter (November to April), access to the tower is closed for safety reasons.
