About the offer
Dive into the fascinating world of precious metal processing and discover the traditional crafts of silver smithing and casting.
We will work on the fundamentals of casting tin and silver using the Ossa Sepia technique. This ancient technique allows for the creation of unique shapes and structures that give your cast object a distinctive character.
Discover the fascinating technique of silversmithing and foldforming, where colored and precious metals are shaped by folding, pressing, and hammering.
There is the possibility to forge a brooch (antique garment clasp), but you can also just engage with the material and find out where the journey takes you. Step by step, we will accompany you to realize your ideas.
No special prior knowledge is required, and the workshop offers participants the opportunity to unleash their creativity and create individual metal objects.
The course is also suitable for people with disabilities.

Lis Gort was born in 1970 in Bregenz and has intensely engaged with the theme of “jewelry as artistic expression” throughout her artistic career. She completed her training in Austria and Taiwan, making significant contributions to the subject of women artists’ jewelry both as an artist and as an educator. During her Master's studies in Jewelry and Metal Arts at the Tainan National University of the Arts in Taiwan from 2013 to 2017, Lis Gort deepened her skills and broadened her creative repertoire. Her many years of experience and her passion for jewelry art are reflected in her work and her commitment to educating jewelry creators.

Johannes Schweighofer was born in 1982 in Vorau. Since 2013, he has been working independently in the fields of sculpture, design, and jewelry art. At the Ortweinschule Graz, he completed the master class in sculpture in 2009 and the master class in jewelry and metal design in 2023. He completed his architecture studies at TU Graz in 2012 at the Institute for Contemporary Art. The central concerns of his artistic work revolve around the fascination with structures and forms. His repertoire includes finely crafted jewelry objects as well as walk-in sculptural works.

The Styrian Summer Art association has been organizing art courses in the Pöllau Valley Nature Park and art events in the region since 2007.
